In our life, as a part of our growing up process, our parents have a lot of role to play in making us who we are. Sociology says, the biggest influence on our lives is, in most cases that of our parents. It is our parents who firstly bring us to this earth, and after our birth, look after each and every need that we have. They raise us to become infants and then into adults. It is only natural that we must be grateful to them for our entire lives. They teach us important values that are required to lead an honorable and successful life.
Father’s day is a way of celebrating fathers and father figures, and of showing our gratitude towards them. It is an event just like Mother’s day or Valentine’s Day where we show our love towards our mothers and our lovers respectively. One may argue, does one need a specific day to show their love and gratitude towards the people they love? The answer to that would certainly be no, but does it hurt to have a specific day to show our love? And if we look at people who have busied themselves in the chores of day to day life, they hardly find time to introspect and think about these things. They become engrossed in their work and often forget about everything else. It is days such as these that remind such people that there are thing that are more important than work, and it reminds them that they are blessed to have such fathers in their life and reminds them to show their love towards their father and thank them for all that they have done for them.

Father’s day Gifts
On Father’s day, you are supposed to gift your father as well, just as a sign of gratitude. They have given you all you have, and a little gift will give them more joy than you can imagine. Even if you’re not earning money, and you are still dependent on your parents for money, you can buy them a gift with their money! It’s not the gift that matters; it’s the attitude and the intention behind it that matters. What you gift your father really depends on the relationship you share with your father. Also, it depends on your age group, because that determines quite a lot of things as well. If you’re quite young, then you can gift them something a little formal yet nice, such as a nice shirt, or a tie. You could also check out some good pens and gift them designer pens that come within your budget. You have many options here though, and that depends on what your father likes. If he has a thing for perfumes, then go for it. Else, shoes are a really good option, and he’ll really love the choice you make for him.

Father’s day Crafts
Father’s day crafts are one of the best options if you are a kid. If you are the mother of the kid, you can encourage the kid to create a nice little craft for Papa for Father’s day. Most crafts would require normal materials such as chart paper, cardboard or such things. You could build a nice little elementary photo frame that could hold a photo of you and your father. Also, you might just cut some colored chart paper and make a nice little greeting card for your father. The best thing about father’s day crafts is that it’s personalized, and you have created the entire thing yourself and such things hold a lot of value. Such a gesture would be really loved and appreciated by any person at the receiving end of such gift, and especially if it is a father receiving something that his own child has created, he would be overwhelmed. It’s a lovely way to express your love, and at the same time create wonderful memories because a thing created by hand would any day have a greater value than a thing you just bought. If you make a beautiful greeting card and gift it to your father, and at the same time buy a greeting card, your father would prefer the one you painted.
Father’s day Gift Ideas
Father’s day gift ideas would come best by observing what your father likes and dislikes, and you must already have a fair idea of all that. You might also want to ask your aunts or your mother about what your father loves as gifts and then you’ll get a fair idea of what to buy him for Father’s day that he’ll really like. One idea of buying a gift is to buy something that he’ll constantly be using. So if he’s constantly doing office work, buy him a nice pen or such a thing. You could buy him a shirt that he could either wear to parties or to work. Another idea would be, if you’re very free with your father, and if you’re pretty mature and old enough, then you could gift your father a bottle of his favourite wine. These are consumables, and since you’re old enough, he’ll be glad that you bothered to buy something nice for him and wish him. Also, he’ll have a pretty good time with the wine, and he’ll be thankful that you bought it. You could also gift your father a pair of nice trousers that he could wear around. Other than that, a lot depends on the culture and society you grew up in. There’s no hard and fast rule for gifts, and you could check up with what your friends are giving to get an idea about what an ideal gift would be. It need not be too expensive or flashy. Just remember, it is the gesture that counts, and the love and affection behind that gesture. That is all that matters in a father – child relationship. A father has given his child everything, and no matter what a child does he cannot repay the father, and repayment should never be the motive. A sincere ‘thank you’ would be more precious than any gift that you could ever give him. Spend some time with your father on that day, have a chat with him, show some love, and that would be the best gift that your father would wish for. Also, go on and fulfill the dreams that he has for you, become the person he always wanted you to become. That is the best gift.
